Steelville will hold the 2nd Annual Walk along a short stretch of the Trail of Tears on Dec. 7.
Walkers will meet at noon and travel 5 miles along the Northern Route of the Trail together. Those who would choose to ride their horses will have a longer route, as will those who choose to ride gravel bikes.
The walk, ride, bike journey will end at the Henry E. Davis Homestead site (today known as the Steelville Community Park and Recreation Area) an NPS-certified site on the Trail. This is NOT a race…More details will be shared as they are available. **Lt. B.B. Cannon’s journal indicates 365 individuals walked the same path on Dec. 4, 1837.
